Obituary of Mary M. Avoli

GENEVA- Mary Matilda Avoli (nee Antinelli), 102, formerly of 260 West North St., passed away peacefully on Tues. (Jan. 1, 2019), at the Geneva Living Center South, while reading one of her favorite books. There will be no calling hours. Family and friends may gather to celebrate Mary's life at 1 p.m. Fri. (Jan. 4), at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Geneva. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be directed to Our Lady of Peace Parish, 130 Exchange St. Geneva, NY 14456, or GDR, Golisano Children's Hospital 300 East River Rd. PO Box 270032, Rochester, NY 14627. Mary was born on Jan. 17, 1916 in Geneva, NY and was a daughter of the late Pio and Lorenza (Tiballi) Antinelli. She worked as a server for several years at the former Pumpernickle Restaurant. Mary was a kind friend to everyone she met and never spoke ill of anyone. She enjoyed TV news programs, NBA Basketball, cooking, baking and gardening. Mary was also a voracious reader (read almost all of John Grisham) throughout her life. She was a devout Roman Catholic and was a faithful member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, its Rosary Society and volunteered for many years at the Geneva Center of Concern. She is survived by her loving sister, Antonia Potts of Chesapeake, VA; sister-in-law, Ann Kinzel; her many loving and devoted nieces and nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews and a very dear friend Nozomi Williams. Mary was predeceased by her parents; husband, James Avoli; sisters, Palma Rizzo and Mildred LoPinto; brothers, Dewey, Albert and Alfred Antinelli; brothers-in-law, William Potts, Alfred Rizzo and Dominick LoPinto; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Antinelli, Anna Antinelli and Ellen Antinelli.
