Obituary of Marie Placito McGory

GENEVA / RIPLEY, TN- Marie Placito McGory passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Thurs. (March 25, 2021), at Ripley Healthcare and Rehab. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tues. (April 6), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC, 28 Genesee St. Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wed. (April 7), at St. Francis De Sales Church, in Geneva. Burial will follow in Whitney Cemetery. Marie was born on Jan. 19, 1935, in Canandaigua. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Rose (Felice) Placito, and beloved step-daughter of George Goodman. She worked as a bank teller at HSBC Bank in Newark. Marie enjoyed volunteering at the Center of Concern in Geneva, reading, playing poker and Euchre. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son, John (Mariette) McGory, Jr. of Lyons; daughters, Lynn (Tim) Maloney of Honeoye, Patricia (Trish) McGory of Collierville, TN, Sandra (David) Murphy of Ripley, TN and Shannon (Jim) Urckfitz of Farmington; friend and former spouse, John McGory Sr. of Collierville, TN; brother, Kenneth (Iris) Goodman of NJ; sisters, Angela Quartaro of Geneva and Beverly Fabrizio of Geneva; grandchildren, Elizabeth Pezzulo, Zachary McGory, Timothy (Maegan) Maloney, Kelly (Jordan) Trowbridge, Brenna (Tyler) Douglas, Erin McGory (Colby Kissell), Angela (Mike) Marianetti, April Murphy, Caleb Urckfitz, Seth Urckfitz and Ronin Urckfitz; great-grandchildren, Allison and Evelyn Maloney; Kellan and Kade Trowbridge; Eli Pezzulo, and several nieces and nephews, and cousins. Marie was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Dominick Quartaro and Francis Fabrizio; nephew, Stephen Quartaro.
