Obituary of Rita Suzanne Grinnell

ELMIRA- Rita Suzanne (Iddings) Grinnell, 75, passed away peacefully on Tues. (Nov. 9, 2021), at the Hope Lodge in Rochester. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sat. (Nov. 20), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC, 28 Genesee St. Geneva, NY 14456. A service will follow in the funeral home at 4 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association, 1120 S. Goodman St. Rochester, NY 14620. Rita was born on Aug. 4, 1946, in Geneva and was the daughter of the late Clifford and Doris Eleanor (Adams) Iddings. She worked for many years in academic administration in the Financial Aid Department of Corning Community College. Rita loved golfing at Big Oak Golf Course, bowling, traveling to camp in the Adirondack Mountains, reading, and shopping. Above all, she loved her family and her close friends. She is survived by her sons, Michael P. Gilly of Elmira and Steven M. Gilly of Elmira; step-daughters, Debbie (Chris) Grinnell Bruns of Burkburnett, TX and Michele (Bill) Grinnell Young of Tucson, AZ; siblings, Candy Siviglia of Seneca Falls, Kay (Kenneth) Akens of Geneva, Benjamin (Melanie) Secor III of Geneva, Renee (Gary) Thompson of Big Flats, NY, Tina (Alfio) LaRosa of Syracuse, Kimberly DeConno of Watervliet, NY, Lisa (Scott) Stratton of Fla., Scotty (Tammy) Iddings of Ferndale, WA and Sandra (Andy) Spitler of Baldwinsville; grandchildren, PFC Jacob M. Gilly, Bridgett L. Gilly, Abigail L. Cusick and Zachary M. Gilly; sister-in-Law, Jessica Mattice of Scottsdale, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her husband, Frank "Bud" Grinnell; and her brother, Bob Mattice.
