Mary Ellen "Mel" Lathrop GENEVA/GATE- Mary Ellen Lathrop, 93, passed away peacefully and was reunited with her husband, John on Fri. (Nov. 12, 2021), at Geneva General Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Sat. (Nov. 20), at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, Geneva, NY 14456. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Contributions may be directed to St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rochester, NY 14624, or Our Lady of Peace Parish, 130 Exchange St. Geneva, NY 14456. Mary Ellen was born on May 7, 1928, in Montrose, PA and was the daughter of the late Mathias and Edna (Bennett) McManus. She worked for many years as an operator for NY Telephone Company. After retirement, she worked for the Diocese of Rochester for 10 years. Mary Ellen and her husband, John did everything together. They enjoyed traveling with friends, dining, golfing and spending holidays with family. Mary Ellen was a member of St. Pius X Church in Chili. She is survived by her daughters, Patti Carter of Geneva and Ellen (Samuel) Crisanti of Geneva; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (William) Morrison of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Angela (Wesley) Bennett, Andrea (Henry) Deras, Amanda Ferriter, Nicole (James) Grigg and Dominic Carter; GG's special great-grandchildren, Dominic Carter, Jr., Jackson Grigg, Mia Ferriter, Rosalie Deras, Julia Ferriter, Maryn Grigg, Oliver Deras and Mateo Carter; several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary Ellen was predeceased by her husband, John O. Lathrop; brothers, Edward (Irene) McManus and Paul McManus; brother-in-law, Mickey (Mary) Lathrop.
