CANANDAIGUA- Claire Floyd Kremer, 87, died peacefully on Sat. (Dec. 25, 2021), at Geneva General Hospital. Friends may call from 3 pm to 6 pm on Wed. (May 18) at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC, 28 Genesee Street, Geneva, NY 14456 and again Thursday (May 19) form 10 am to 11 am at St. John Episcopal Church, 183 N. Main Street, Canandaigua, NY, followed by her funeral service at 11 am. Contributions may be directed to St. John's Episcopal Church, 183 N. Main St. Canandaigua, NY 14424, the Ontario County Humane Society, 2974 County Rd. 48, Canandaigua, NY 14424, or Beverly Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St. Waterloo, NY 13165. Claire was born on May 2, 1934, in Newark, NJ and was a daughter of the late Commander John Kremer, Jr. USNR and Katharine Shippen (Dunn) Kremer. Claire graduated from the University of Rochester, with a major in piano, in 1955. She retired from Wayne County Dept. of Social Services, where she was a caseworker. She ended her career at the Wayne County Council on Aging. Claire was a devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Geneva and St. John's Episcopal Church in Canandaigua. She volunteered as an organist for several Episcopal churches. She served on many boards and committees, including Geneva Concerts, Rochester Diocesan Council, Commission on Ministry, Committee on nominations, past president of AAUW in Wayne County, League of Women Voters of Geneva, Finger Lakes Health System Agency, she was a literacy volunteer and was a board member of Planned Parenthood. Her greatest accomplishment was in 2003, when she initiated the Storybook Program for the inmates at the Ontario County Jail, which helped parents and children communicate through books and recordings during incarceration. She is survived by her children, Katharine S. (Steve Werner) Chace of East Rochester and Elizabeth Chace of Geneva; brother, John Kremer III of Fryeburg, ME; grandchildren, Erin Claire Morris, Clint Morris, Lindsay Pantaleo, Sammy Pantaleo, Courtney Smith, Tariq Smith, Olivia Young, Adam Miller, Peter (Stephanie)Young, and Katy Werner; great grandchildren August Pantaleo, Cora James Smith, Elaine Claire Morris, Lincoln James Young; nieces Dr. Peg White and Ellen Kremer Christian; nephews Alan AtKisson and John Kremer IV; dear friend, Sathy Gunawardhana and Godson, Peter Anderson; cousin Gretchen Fox; two cats Moufette and Miss Daisy. Claire was predeceased by her sister, Katharine Shippen Collins; daughters, Adelaide Bevan Chace and Margaret Chace Miller; grandson, Pfc. James Chace Young, U.S.M.C.; significant other, Rev. Frank D. Howden.
